If you want to get in shape, you're going to have to work hard. You won't see results if your only exercise involves rolling out of bed and walking to the fridge for a snack. While it's tempting to spend your free time--if you have any--lounging around, you have to get your body moving if you want to get in shape. Here are some things you need to stop doing in order to get fit:
1. Entering a Marathon... with Netflix
Believe it or not, there's a difference between marathoning Orange is the New Black and running an actual marathon. However, they both involve dedication and a good chunk of your time. So if you want to get in shape, turn off your television and see what a real marathon is like. Don't worry--once you're finished, you can still see how Piper is holding up.
2. Only Working out Texting Muscles
You work out your finger muscles all day by tapping away on your phone and typing on your keyboard, but it's time to focus on other muscles. You have tons of them in your body, so it's unfair to focus on a select few. Try to engage in different workouts so that you strengthen different areas of your body.
3. Having a Short Attention Span
You see a girl with abs on the beach, and you want to be like her, so you run a mile that day, and then forget all about fitness the next day. You can't expect to get in shape by working out once or twice a month. You have to make a schedule for yourself and keep it. We'd all love to magically develop muscles, but there's no genie around to grant that wish.
4. Cheating Yourself
You have to climb four flights of steps to get to class, so you count that as your workout for the day. You have to walk your dog into the yard so he can pee, and you pretend that the short distance helped you burn all the calories you need to. Stop tricking yourself into believing you're getting a good workout and actually do some tough exercises. You can handle it!
You promised yourself that you'd start your diet tomorrow, but then tomorrow came, and you decided to put it off for one more day. That happens again and again, until you stop lying to yourself and give up completely. Stop procrastinating and start your healthy lifestyle now! No more putting it off.
6. Using Equipment as Storage
If you have a treadmill or weight set, put it somewhere that you can easily access it. Don't keep it hidden away in the basement, and don't use it as an extra shelf. Use it for its intended reason, and you'll see the results you're looking for soon.
7. Doubting Yourself
Believe that you're a queen bee like Lorde that's capable of anything. If you're worried that you won't succeed, then you might not try at all, and that's no way to live! Your fantasies can become reality if you try hard enough, so what are you waiting for?
If you want to get in shape, then you have to get your body moving! Are you trying to get fit? Do you have any tips on how to do so?
